Estimating & Pre-construction Services
For projects with complete, or near complete, design documents, the process starts with the estimating department. Ascent will carefully assess the construction requirements of the project, put the construction documents out for subcontractor bids, assemble a preliminary schedule, and develop a proposal for owner review. This process is critical to a healthy project kick-off and involves the entire project team in the process.
For those instances where a complete design has not yet been developed, Ascent also has the ability to utilize their pre-construction department to help guide the team to the final design. Collaborating closely with the architect, engineer and owner, and utilizing our subcontractor relationships, A-C will assist in providing value engineering to help develop the most economical option for the project.
Project Management
Upon award of the project, Ascent GC will immediately begin moving from preconstruction and estimating, into the construction phase. A project manager, superintendent and project engineer will be dedicated to accomplishing that task, becoming thoroughly familiar with the project, establishing the construction budget and schedule, and working meticulously to keep all of those in line. The project manager is the controller of all budgetary tracking using real time document management and scheduling software.
Superintendent Supervision
The most crucial role in ensuring construction runs smoothly is the role of the superintendent on site. Their familiarity with the project with which they are tasked, as well as their experience in the field and ability to solve problems as they arise, is what sets apart the truly skilled from the run-of-the-mill. Additionally, the superintendent is the driver of the schedule to move the project to completion. While the schedule is assembled as a collective team, the superintendent is truly the owner of the schedule, taking charge of all current, and planning for all upcoming activities.
